It was incredibly powerful to visit the Young Lives vs Cancer team at Jean’s House in Southampton yesterday and hear first-hand about the incredible work the charity does to help families affected by childhood cancer.
Wynand Barnard, Marketing Assistant at Astute, who visited Jean’s House on Thursday (29 June), said, “It was a privilege to visit the Young Lives vs Cancer team at Jean’s House and hear moving testimonies of the huge impact the charity has on people’s lives.
“At Astute, we are passionate about contributing to our local community and supporting local initiatives like Jean’s House, which helps families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them.
“Young Lives vs Cancer want families affected by cancer to thrive, not just survive, Astute is proud to join them on their mission.”
Jean’s House is one of Young Lives vs Cancer’s 11 Homes from Home that offer a free place for families to stay when their child is going through cancer treatment.
They’re close to principal treatment centres, helping families avoid the extra financial burdens of travel and accommodation costs.
They also allow young cancer patients to be close to their loved ones, keeping the family together at a difficult time.
As Astute’s Charity of the Year, we’re gearing up for several challenges to raise much-needed money for the Young Lives vs Cancer’s vital work, including the 50km South West Ultra Challenge and the Great South Run.
Young Lives vs Cancer don't charge families to stay at the Jean's House and it costs the charity £38 for a family to stay there a night.
