Across Astute's Renewable team, we have more than 30 years of recruitment experience.

We recruit a variety of roles including sector-specific design/hands on engineers, O&M professionals, solar and wind technicians and Manager to C-Suite level Renewable energy specialists.

It varies depending on the sub-sector.

Anyone working on wind turbines will require GWOs (Global Wind Organisation) and specific certificates to climb the towers, for example.

Solar and electric vehicle charging points will require specific City & Guilds qualifications.

You can visit our renewable energy job board to apply for any vacancies directly or reach out to any one of the team for a conversation.

There are no barriers to entry other than some roles will require specific certification, ie the GWOs mentioned earlier.

Huge – because it is such a growth sector.

For those within the sector already, the more experience you have the more likely you are to see career growth and help support the next generation of renewable energy talent.

We can develop recruitment campaigns to match our clients' needs.

If we are recruiting on a retained campaign, we can build a bespoke talent strategy for the hiring organisation, which can include undertaking a series of conversations with the client to discuss candidate profiles, long and short lists and headhunting. Retained campaigns are typically invoiced upfront.

We also offer conventional recruitment campaigns that utilise our extensive renewable candidate network and social platforms and will see our team leverage their industry and sector knowledge.

Diligence, knowledge, a partnership approach and our market standing.

Many candidates and clients like to exclusively work with us because of our reputation and longstanding in the sector.

Yes, especially in O&M.

Because the scale at which the sector needs to grow means there aren’t people with the like-for-like skillset and therefore we need people from other sectors to fulfil these roles.

These vary depending on the role – any offering of car allowance/company vehicle veers towards electric vehicles, which is positive from a sustainability point and enticing to many candidates.

There is a skills shortage so there are huge opportunities for candidates to enter the sector and a huge risk of companies losing their best talent to organisations offering a better employee value proposition

This varies by sub-sector and level of role.

Generally speaking the following tends to be true:

  • AnaerobicDigestion – can be CV sent and start in 7 days
  • Wind – technician level can be periodic intake (typically the first Monday of every month or two months) more senior roles have 12-week notice periods.
  • Solar follows a similar model to wind

We undertake prequalification conversations and get sight of candidates' qualifications.

Yes, while we are headquartered in the UK we have recruited into Europe and have various companies we’re recruiting for in the UK who are wanting us to collaborate with their international operations.

As renewable energy is such a high-growth sector, we are actively focusing on more international recruitment campaigns.
